It’s been reported that after years of turning down ITV bosses, Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley has finally agreed to take part in the next series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
It was reported earlier this week that the star, who is married to fellow presenter Judy Finnigan, has signed up to be one of the contestants for this year’s ITV reality TV series.
A possible appearance on the show would see the Good Morning Britain host leave his home comforts behind and endure a stay in Gwrych Castle near Abergele, North Wales in a bid to become the new King of the Jungle.
As one half of TV’s most popular couples, fans were delighted last year when Richard and Judy gave viewers a glimpse of their life in their huge Hampstead Heath home.
The former This Morning presenters proudly displayed their home of 25 years during their popular series, Keep Reading and Carry on which aired during the 2020 lockdown.
Channel 4 viewers watched as the two book lovers opened the doors of their spacious detached property and welcomed the cameras into their cosy home.
With large windows and a Juliet balcony, the TV legends are surrounded by beautiful wisteria and ivy in the grounds of their stunning property.
Throughout the five-part series, viewers got an insight into life at home with one of TV’s most popular duos.
On one episode of the Channel 4 show, the couple joked that they had never seen their living room tidier, thanks to being confided to their home during the 2020 lockdown.
As the authors of several popular books, it came as no surprise to fans that the Richard & Judy Book Club creators fill their home with novels and literature.
In the background of one of the shots, huge bookcases at either end of the room could be spotted with an array of literary treasures adorning the shelves.
On the first offering of the lockdown series, Richard told viewers: “This is our sitting room, welcome. We’ve got all the safety protocols in place.
“It smells like a disinfectant factory, in fact Donald Trump would love it. It’s cleaner today than the 25 years we’ve lived here.”
If the rumours are true, and Richard is due an I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! stint later this year, the star will be saying goodbye to his super clean property and getting acquainted with creepy crawlies on the hit show.
It’s been reported that after years of turning down offers to appear on the celebrity reality TV show, the 65-year-old feels the timing is finally right and is said to have agreed a contract believed to be worth around £200,000.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Richard’s been asked year after year but the timing has never been right. But now, finally, he’s said ‘Yes’.
“He’s a favourite with ITV execs. He’s brilliant off and on screen so it seemed as good a time as any to throw caution to the wind and eat animal bits.
“He’s a fantastic coup and a nailed-on fan favourite. Once you wind him up, off he goes — he will make for castle gold.”
