The charismatic television presenter has said she has been too career focused for love – but backstage Strictly sources predict a full blown romance with Kai is on the cards after the show threw them together
AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington are waltzing their way towards a full blown romance – if Strictly Come Dancing gossips are to be believed.
And fans have been thrilled to see them set the dance floor on fire with their passionate dance routines – which included a tribute to The Bodyguard in Saturday night’s movie week themed show.
Crew members working on the BBC show are said to be convinced that AJ and Kai could see their professional relationship turn romantic thanks to their sizzling performances.
A show source blabbed to The Sun on Sunday: “Everyone backstage is talking about the sparks flying between AJ and Kai. It’s very passionate and intense whenever they’re together.
“They’re both single and have really hit it off and everyone on the show is saying it’s only a matter of time.
“They’re always laughing and flirting — romance is 100 per cent on the cards.
“Kai is totally AJ’s type. He’s got loads of banter and he’s been blown away by her, too.
The source goes on to claim that AJ had always denied herself time for a romance due to being focused on her career – but that her and Kai’s worlds have ‘collided’ after being paired on Strictly.
While AJ might be traditionally too focused on work for love, Kai was in a four-year relationship with Dancing With The Stars professional Giulia Dotta until November last year.
Despite splitting at the end of 2020, Kai and the 29-year-old Italian dancer didn’t reveal the end of their romance to fans until July this year.
Giulia confirmed to The Mirror this summer that she and Kai had split – but that they were still on good terms.
The pair had worked together on Ireland’s version of Dancing With The Stars between 2017 and 2020.
Critics had been quick to point the finger of the ‘Strictly Curse’ at Kai and Giulia’s break-up as their split news came hot on the heels of the fact that Kai would be joining the UK cast of Strictly this winter.
A show source said at the time: “Signing up to Strictly is like a death sentence for almost any relationship.”
While Kai had previously declared that joining the cast of professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing had been a career highlight.
He said when his casting was announced: “This is my childhood dream come true.
“Watching Strictly from the very first series as a young boy and now, 18 years later, to be a professional dancer on the show is the most amazing feeling and the biggest accomplishment of my career.”
Strictly Come Dancing continued tonight on BBC One at 7:10pm.
