New Brunswick reports 73 new cases COVID-19, two more deaths, as fourth wave rages

FREDERICTON – New Brunswick is reporting 73 new cases of COVID-19 as public health officials battle a devastating fourth wave in the province.

A news release Sunday says there are now 962 active reported COVID-19 infections across the province, and two more people have died from the disease.

Officials say 53 people are in hospital, 22 of whom are in intensive care.

Authorities say 42 of the patients in hospital are unvaccinated, three are partially vaccinated and eight have both doses of the vaccine.

Premier Blaine Higgs reminded residents in Sunday’s release to stick to their households when celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend, and follow all public health advice.

Before the fourth wave of COVID-19 hit, the highest number of active cases reported in New Brunswick was 348, on Jan. 25.
