Megan Fox is known for being one of the world’s most beautiful women – but the Hollywood actress revealed even she has down days. She has revealed she struggles with body issues and insecurities
Megan Fox is known for being one Hollywood’s most beautiful actresses but the 35-year-old has revealed she suffers from “deep insecurities” and the condition body dysmorphia.
Speaking to British GQ Style magazine in a joint interview with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly, the Transformers star opened up about her body image issues.
She said although people might perceive her as beautiful and intimidating, appearances can be deceiving.
Megan explained: “We may look at somebody and think, ‘That person’s so beautiful. Their life must be so easy.’ They most likely don’t feel that way about themselves.”
Asked if that is how she feels, Megan confessed: “Yeah, I have body dysmorphia. I have a lot of deep insecurities.”
Body dysmorphia is a mental health condition where a person spends a lot of time worrying about flaws in their appearance, according to the NHS.
More often than not, these flaws are unnoticeable to others.
Body Dysmorphia Disorder can affect a person’s daily life, including work, social life and relationships.
In extreme cases it can also lead to depression, self-harm and even thoughts of suicide.
While Megan has gained modern day pin-up status for her looks and movie roles, her appearance has also led to her facing a public backlash over the sexualisation of actresses.
This resulted in her taking a step back from doing press and at one point never leaving the house.
Describing herself as an unusual person who doesn’t fit neatly into any boxes, she credits boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly with helping her feel herself again.
She says she had buried a lot of her quirks in previous relationships because they “didn’t have a place to live”.
But when she met Machine Gun Kelly – real name Colson Baker – in 2020, it was like “meeting your own soul’s reflection”.
She said: “I’d always felt like there was that thing missing… But then you meet the person that completes that for you and you’re like, ‘Oh, this is what my heart was searching for. That’s what that beacon was this whole time.’”
The feeling was mutual for Bloody Valentine singer Machine Gun Kelly, who came from broken homes and said he had never witnessed the kind of love he and Megan now have.
“It hurts my soul that I wasted 30 years of my life not having any desire,” the now 31-year-old said.
“She’s helped me realise that you can’t bury trauma.”
Megan and Machine Gun Kelly got together after meeting on the set of action movie Midnight In The Switchgrass in 2020.
The pair were actually introduced a few years earlier at a party in LA, but nothing happened.
Both say they don’t remember seeing each others’ faces – in fact the only thing Megan remembers is he smelled like weed.
Despite this initial hitch the pair are now firmly a couple and seem to be going from strength to strength, so will be there be wedding bells in the near future? Watch this space.
