Adele has sold over 120 million records and is one of the most successful singers in the world, but it seems she never forgets the person who made it all happen.

The mother-of-one might be living in Los Angeles now and have 15 Grammy Awards under her belt, but she’s still as humble as ever.

In fact, the London-born star proved that when she answered fans’ questions during an Instagram Live recently and gave an honest and open interview to Vogue.

And it seems Adele has never forgotten the man who took a chance on her – and literally changed her life forever.

Jack Peñate is a 37-year-old singer, songwriter and musician who also grew up in London.

An unknown Adele provided vocals for Jack ‘s song, My Yvonne, which features on his debut album Matinée which was released in October 2007.

It was during this session that Adele first met producer Jim Abbiss, who would go on to produce both the majority of her debut album, 19, and tracks on 21.

The ‘Hello’ hitmaker also supported Jack before she released her own music in 2007, and she has credited the Indie singer with getting her heard on MySpace and landing her first record deal with XL Recordings.

Just two years ago, Adele expressed her gratitude for Jack when she found out that he was releasing new music.

Writing on Instagram alongside a screenshot of Jack’s new music video, she said: “My truest most loyal and undying love @jackpenate Boom! Dancing in a mint suit singing his heart out obviousllllly!!

“I got my manager, record deal and publishing deal because of this man. Way back when he made me exist on MySpace, as he did with loads of other UK artists.”

Adele continued: “He took me on tour when no one cared, literally no one. Getting old and working s*** out in moments of time with you is the biggest gift when we connect. I love you Jack and I’m so happy you’re back.”

There’s several throwback clips of the duo on Youtube, including one where they are sitting side-by-side and sing My Yvonne in a hotel room for radio station XFM.

Another candid video shows them performing Hit the road Jack! on a teeny tiny stage at Jack’s first ever single launch.

Since that humble performance, Adele has gone on to sell out arenas and has even headlined Glastonbury Festival.

This week, Adele said she is “finally” ready to release her new album 30, which she called her “ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life”.

She confirmed on Twitter that the record will be available on November 19, telling fans in a touching statement: “I was certainly nowhere near where I’d hoped to be when I first started it nearly 3 years ago.

“Quite the opposite actually. I rely on routine and consistency to feel safe, I always have. And yet there I was knowingly – willingly even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil!

“I’ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way. I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones,” she added.
