Love Island star Lucinda Strafford turned down the opportunity to star on Celebs Go Dating after rekindling her romance with footballer Aaron Connolly.

The 21-year-old rejected the Channel 4 TV offer insisting she was tired of dating shows after starring in ITV 2’s Love Island this summer.

However, it’s believed that her reluctance to star on the popular dating show was in large part due to her and Aaron reuniting.

“I have been offered a reality TV show, a dating one, but I have said ‘unfortunately not’,” she told The Sun, adding: “I want a break from dating for a while, it’s too much.”

Lucinda dated £1m-a-year Brighton & Hove Albion winger Aaron for two years before splitting earlier this year due to his cheating.

Shortly after being voted out of the villa with fellow contestant Aaron Francis, Lucinda called time on their relationship and was soon pictured on a romantic night out with fellow Islander Brad McClelland, who was one of her love interests in the villa.

Over the past few weeks, however, she and footballer Aaron have been spotted together sparking rumours that they are dating again.

Speaking to OK! about her current relationship status, Lucinda recently admitted that she and ex Aaron “are sort of talking again”.

“We’re seeing where things go,” she revealed, before clarifying that the pair aren’t officially a couple. “We’re not back together as such, but we’re taking it step by step… I’m not really talking to anyone else at the moment”

Lucinda explained that the reunion with Aaron happened after things “sort of fizzled out” between her and Brad post-show.

“I feel like maybe there was a reason it didn’t work in the villa so it wasn’t going to work outside,” she reasoned. According an insider, Lucinda and Aaron “argued” about her going on the ITV2 reality show.

However, as she went forward with the show, sparking romances with Brad, Aaron and Danny – football star Aaron was said to have eventually given her his blessing and even looked after her pet dog in her absence.

Many viewers speculated that Lucinda’s heart was still with her ex and that she was only using the show as a means of bringing her fame, lucrative endorsements and attention for her online fashion boutique.

She denied the accusations that she was still invested in her relationship with Aaron, insisting after she was dumped from the show: “I am completely and utterly single.

“Never in a million years would I go on Love Island if I was in a relationship, and I’m sure if I had a boyfriend, he wouldn’t be very happy with it either.

“We ended quite dramatically at the start of March but then we made friends… Hopefully, he’s moved on and I definitely have.”

Lucinda has said she’s exclusively seeing ex-boyfriend Aaron Connolly

Although Lucinda has ruled out Celebs Go Dating, she still hopes for a career in television but has her sights set on bigger, more mainstream prospects.

She said: “I’m open to other reality TV shows, it’s not just dating shows out there, there are so many other ones out there.

“I’m A Celebrity would be so much fun. I would definitely be up for that, but I don’t think they’ve taken on any islanders before. I could be a first.”
