The This Morning star says her teenage son Aiden rarely watches his famous mum on TV
Alison Hammond has revealed her teenage son Aiden never watches his famous mum on TV – despite her taking over This Morning every Friday.
The TV favourite has a 17-year-old son with her ex-husband Noureddine Boufaied.
Allison fell pregnant shortly after appearing on the third series of Big Brother back in 2002.
But her offspring isn’t a big fan of his mum’s work.
“I’ll be honest with you, he doesn’t [watch],” she tells us in an exclusive interview.
“He watches TikTok and YouTube, and he’s a gamer. I have to go up to him and say, ‘Babes, watch the TV!’ and then he’ll put the television on and watch it.
“Occasionally I’ll go home and he’ll say, ‘I watched you today Mum, you were really good.’ I say, ‘How much did you watch then? Two minutes?!'”
And Alison tells us she loves being on This Morning as much as we love watching her on it.
It’s amazing. I’ve been at This Morning now for 20 years. It’s an absolute treat to go to work,” she said.
“I don’t feel like I’ve worked a day in the past 20 years because it’s so lovely.
“I feel so lucky every day because you don’t know when your time is up and when someone else is going to come in to do it.”
Alison was praised when she spoke candidly about obesity on air recently and admits she was “blown away” by the response from viewers.
“We’ve had so many letters from people resonating with what I said,” she tells us.
“I was just talking from the heart. It caught me off guard a little bit when the caller phoned in. It was one of those times where I felt obliged to speak about my thoughts. I’m like that sometimes.”
And as an early Big Brother star, what does Alison think about the show’s rumoured return?
“I think it will do really well because we all like a bit of voyeurism, don’t we?” she said.
“Watching people and what they’re like. We like a little bit of drama. Reality TV is not over, it’s still very much at the forefront of things.”
Alison has a new book out called Black In Time.
“It’s a book about historical Black figures in history who’ve done amazing, positive things to contribute to the British empire,” she explained.
“I brought my interviewing skills to this book. You’ll see a lot of that, and you’ll hear my voice throughout the book. You’ll literally hear me all the way through it. It’s brilliant!”
