Colin Farrell was unrecognisable as the villain Oswald Cobblepot in the bleak new thriller The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman
The Irish actor is unrecognisable in the DC Comics blockbuster The Batman, which sees Robert Pattinson take on the role of the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Paul Dano as the sadistic serial killer the Riddler.
Colin, 45, wore heavy prosthetics to play Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, in the new movie, and fans were stunned when they realised the villain was portrayed by the Hollywood hunk.
After the huge success of The Batman, which has raked in more than $300 at the box office worldwide, a new series on US streaming service HBO Max, called The Penguin, is now in the works.
The show will focus on Gotham’s legendary kingpins, and The Batman director Matt Reeves said it will pick up where the movie left off.
Colin will also serve as executive producer on the show, alongside Matt, Dylan Clark, Farrell and Lauren LeFranc.
“Colin exploded off the screen as the Penguin in The Batman, and having the chance to thoroughly explore the inner life of that character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill,” the filmmaker said in a statement to Deadline.

“Dylan and I are so excited to work with Lauren in continuing Oz’s story as he grabs violently for power in Gotham.”
“Every story has a beginning,” HBO Max said in a social media post confirming the news.
“@DCComics’ The Penguin (working title), a new Max Originals limited series starring Colin Farrell, is coming to HBO Max. Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, and Lauren LeFranc to serve as executive producers,” they added.

Discussing his transformation for the superhero movie, he said he felt liberated while wearing the prosthetics.
“Just being buried… being anonymous by being buried beneath all that make-up kind of freed me up in a way that I’d never experienced before. I had no fears about how I was being seen or portrayed,” he told PA.
