Gary Barlow has shared never-seen-before photos from the day he met wife Dawn in a romantic tribute to mark their wedding anniversary
Gary Barlow has shared never-seen-before snaps with wife Dawn to celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary.
The Take That star met Dawn in 1988 on the set of a music video and she later became a backup dancer for the band when they formed in the Nineties.
Paying tribute to his wife on their special day, Gary took to Instagram to share photos of the day they met with his 847,000 followers.
The Eighties throwback from before he was famous show a young Gary dressed all in black. While Dawn is pictured with blonde curly hair in a baseball style jacket and black leggings.
Another snap shows Dawn in a black bikini top and fringed skirt as Gary looks at the camera.
Gary, 50, also shared a photo of what he and Dawn, 52, look like now, as the couple both raised a cocktail glass to the camera to mark the occasion.
The A Million Love Songs singer captioned the post: “Happy 22nd wedding anniversary Mrs B.
“What a time we’ve had. So many adventures. 4 beautiful children. Here’s to the next 22 and beyond. Check out the pics of the day we first met – 1988!! Shocking!!”
Fans were quick to congratulate the couple with one saying: “Happy 22nd anniversary. You look just as gorgeous now as you did back then, young love.”
“Happy Anniversary. Wow 22 years congratulations. Aww that picture is so cute of when you first met,” another wrote.
A third commented: “How he [Gary] smiles in the third picture. As if he wanted to say: Oh I am so nervous. Look at that beautiful lady behind me. How can I ask her for a date?”
While a fourth made reference to Gary’s questionable dress sense back in the Eighties simply saying: “Those trousers!!!”
If Gary and Dawn first met in the Eighties that means they were both teenagers at the time, with Gary being around 17 in 1988 and Dawn 18.
The couple began dating in 1995 after Dawn joined Take That as a backup dancer on their Nobody Else tour and they’ve been together ever since.
Although Gary was always smitten, Dawn admitted it wasn’t love at first sight for her, telling OK!: “He grew on me. We ate our dinner together each night and became friends first.”
Despite Take That members having a no girlfriends rule at the time, Gary flouted this to take Dawn as his date to the 1996 BRIT Awards.
The couple tied the knot in 2000 and are now parents to three children; Daniel, 21, Emily, 19, and 12-year-old Daisy.
Sadly their fourth child, a daughter called Poppy, was stillborn in 2012.
Their bereavement only made Gary and Dawn stronger and they are have one of the most long-standing unions in British showbiz.
Gary has even said he wants to renew his wedding vows with his “amazing wife” one day, adding: “That’s definitely on the agenda.”
