Jada Pinkett Smith said that the lack of ‘protection’ has been the biggest ‘wound’ that comes out most in her personal relationships.

The Smith family have been open about many details in their personal lives in the past, from romances to family issues.

In a snippet from an upcoming episode of Red Table Talk, Jada talked to her family Willow Smith and Adrienne ‘Gammy’ Banfield-Norris as well as Mother Hunger author Kelly McDaniel about mother-daughter dynamics and relationships.

She confessed that the “biggest wound” that came out most in her personal relationships was a lack of protection.

“My thing was, just, not having protection. That’s my biggest wound that comes out in all my relationships,” she admitted.

“And I’ve looked for [the] craziest kind of protection, and I don’t have a really good sense of what’s safe and what’s not.”

She continued: “I’m either extremely protective or extremely defensive.”

Gammy believes that it must have started when Jada’s grandmother passed away when she was 11/12 years old.

According to Adrienne, Jada found ‘security through my mother’, and her death impacted Jada’s’ sense of security greatly.

Jada’s revelations on her personal relationships come several months after the Smith family hit headlines over the slapping incident at the Oscar Awards.

Back in March, Will Smith surprised the audience and viewers when he walked up on stage and slapped presenter Chris Rock across the face.

While presenting for the best documentary feature category, the comedian decided to throw a jibe about Jada’s shaved head.

He said: “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2,” before Will marched up towards him.

After returning to his seat, Will screamed out: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f****** mouth.”

Around two weeks later, the first episode of the new season of Red Table Talk dropped.
