Countryfile presenter Julia Bradbury tells fans she isn’t feeling too good after undergoing a ‘brutal’ mastectomy in October and admits she is ‘struggling to get out of bed’
Julia Bradbury has given a concerning health update after having a mastectomy in October.
The Countryfile presenter, 51, underwent the ‘brutal’ procedure following her breast cancer diagnosis in September.
The much-loved star has spoken positively about her recovery, but has now told fans she isn’t feeling great.
Julia took to Twitter on Sunday sharing a video of herself going for a walk in her pyjamas and wellies.
Admitting it was a ‘struggle to get out of bed’ she said: “Hi everybody. I’m back in my pyjamas today. I’ve sort of gone backwards this week.
“I’ve been feeling better and stronger every week since my op but this week I’ve got really flu-ey symptoms.
“I’ve done a covid test and that’s come back negative. I’m really phlegm-ey and cough-ey and chesty.
“All I really want to do to stay in bed but I have forced myself just to come outside and just get just 20 minutes out here.
“Because I know it’s going to be good and fill my lungs with some good air. And sometimes you just gotta push through a bit.
“Then I’m gonna go back to bed. I hope you having a good weekend and sending lot’s of love. Hope you’re all getting your outdoor time.”
Stressing the importance of being out in nature she added: “Many of us live fast-paced urban lives; long working days, long crowded commutes.
“There are so many pressures that affect our mental health.
“That’s why it’s worth making time for nature, even when things get busy & other priorities feel more important.”
Julia had her left breast removed in October after receiving her cancer diagnosis.
She shared a powerful topless image of herself shortly before her surgery.
Alongside it she wrote: “I’m going for my last walk in this body. I’m going for my last walk with these boobs.
“One of the the best bits of advice I’ve received in the weeks of my breast cancer diagnosis (thank you) .. is to say goodbye to my breast and to thank my body for all the sustenance, joy & life it has given me.”
Julia said she had “overwhelming” anxiety before the operation and that she was “sad that such a brutal procedure is necessary”.
Since the procedure, Julia has been giving her fans regular updates on health.
Despite the major surgery, she said there was some good news when she shared that was finally able to sleep thanks to a reflexologist.
Earlier this month she said: “Morning all. Had my first full night of sleep last night, since my diagnosis. No middle of the night wake-up. Whoop whoop.
“Have a good day folks. It’s all about the little chinks of ‘good’.
“Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day.”
