Manchester United vs Tottenham is a cracking game, but you just don’t know who will turn up for either side each week and that’s why it’s the main focus of this week’s talkSPORT tipping column – with the top four race really opening up.
I remember playing at Old Trafford and scoring an overhead kick for Tottenham before United came back to win – and they might have to do that again this weekend.
It’s fascinating now who’s going to get this fourth spot and two of them go head-to-head on Saturday so that’s really where we’ll see the season shape-up for either side.
But with the news of Roman Abramovich being sanctioned and Chelsea in chaos, who knows? There might be two spots up for grabs now, with third AND fourth.
A lot of people had already crowned Manchester City as champions of the Premier League. But Liverpool have still got to play them, there’s still so many big games to come and Jurgen Klopp’s side are chasing the quadruple.
Manchester United vs Tottenham
This is another cracker isn’t it?
It really is a very important game. Cristiano Ronaldo was apparently dropped for the City game, but that didn’t work did it? United were really poor.
But he’s been training on his own saying: ‘OK, I’m not going to cause trouble but I want to play, I want to play’.
Whereas, Harry Kane on the other hand, is just fantastic at the moment, he’s got form coming into this match.
My problem with Spurs is you don’t know who’s going to turn up – you could say that about United as well, Marcus Rashford is still all over the place.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Spurs nicked it, but it’s a big, no massive tie. I’ll sit on the fence and go for score draw and 1-1.
You can’t not look at Kane to score because he’s in great form again.
So for Spurs I’d go Kane and for United, Ronaldo to get one on his comeback.
Stat: Kane has scored 93 goals in 137 Premier League away games – one more will see him equal Wayne Rooney for the most goals scored away from home in the competition’s history.
Brighton v Liverpool
This will be a very good game. Brighton have been good this season, but they’ve been faltering a wee bit recently.
Liverpool are beginning to think perhaps that there is light at the end of the tunnel, in terms of catching up with Manchester City.
So for that reason they can’t fail at Brighton, who will make it tough but I think Liverpool will be too strong.
The Seagulls have good movement to threaten the Reds but the home side will have their tails up. It won’t be easy for Liverpool but I’m gonna go 2-0.
Mo Salah you’ve got to back to score, but it might be a set-piece. If someone were to have a little bet, a punt even, maybe Virgil van Dijk to score from a set-piece something like that to get a big price from.
Stat: Liverpool have scored 1,998 premier league goals and could become the second team to reach the 2,000 milestone after Manchester United. 10% of these goals have come from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Chelsea v Newcastle
It’s all up in the air for Chelseaat the minute with sanctions on Roman Abramovich from the UK government.
It does puts the cat amongst the pigeons.
Chelsea have got quality, quality players – but surely this will have some impact on them? This is the unknown, what’s going on now? What sort of crowd will be in there, will away fans be allowed? I don’t know!
Newcastle have picked up tremendously well, but Chelsea are still quality. I’m going to go for a narrow Chelsea victory.
There’s a host of Chelsea goal scorers, you never know who’s going to score… or play! But if Romeul Lukaku plays then I’ve got to go with him to score.
Stat: Chelsea are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League home games (W4 D5), since a 1-0 loss against Manchester City in September.
Arsenal v Leicester
This is a big game for Arsenal, so important.
The Gunners look, on paper, big favourites for a top four finish with the other teams around them with some of the most difficult games to play.
We already mentioned Man United and Spurs, Chelsea, but West Ham have also got a tricky game against Aston Villa.
For that reason this is a game Arsenal have to win. I’ve just got a feeling they will as well, I think I’m going to go with an Arsenal victory, as Leicester without Vardy is a blow.
A 2-0 win for Arsenal and Alexandre Lacazette to net.
Stat: No side has kept fewer away clean sheets in the Premier League than Leicester City this season.
