Angelic Upstarts are a South Shields punk rock band that formed back in 1977, with Mensi as one of the original members.
The band took on an anti-fascist and working class philosophy.
During their first ten years they released a total of eight studio albums and after a short split they reformed again in 1988.
It got to the point that Mensi was the only original member of the band but he announced he was leaving in August 2006 but returned the following year.
On February 22nd 2021, former member Tony Morrison known as Tony Feedback also died due to coronavirus complications.
