Paul Hollywood says working with his dad was ‘difficult’

Paul Hollywood has been working up a sweat in a pub kitchen.

The Great British Bake Off judge, 55, has been snapped dishing up some pizzas at his partner’s restaurant and bar in Kent.

Pictured on Tuesday, the culinary star donned traditional chef whites – with his name etched across his chest – as he helped out girlfriend Melissa Spalding, 37, at The Chequers Inn.

The TV chef completed his outfit for his late-night shift with a dark blue and white apron tied around his waist.

Despite being worth around £11.5 million proved he’s still up for a shift in the kitchen, as he pitched in during a busy service at the Kent venue.

Speaking with The Sun, one patron of The Chequers Inn praised the star, saying: “The restaurant was busy and Paul seemed to be a hit with customers.”

Paul’s stint as a pizza chef was also a hit with Facebook reviewers, with one guest from Tuesday night writing on the pub’s page: “Amazing pizza night for our first visit to find a nice local pub. Was not disappointed. Great food, friendly staff. Found our local pub.”

It’s been reported that Paul’s stint in the kitchen was advertised on the company’s Facebook page, in a post that has since been deleted.

With the ongoing pandemic impacting many hospitality sites across the country, it’s been claimed that owner Melissa is doing all she can to entice customers into her pub – including calling on her famous boyfriend.

“While most landladies might have to shell out for a star chef, Melissa can just call her boyfriend. She and her parents hope he will get some business through the door,” a source claimed to The Sun earlier this week.

The Chequers Inn holds a special place in the hearts of Paul and Melissa, with the pair reportedly first meeting there back when the TV chef was regular customer.

This is Paul’s second public relationship following his split from ex-wife Alexandra in 2017.

The Channel 4 star met his former wife in Cyprus, where he was a head baker at a five star hotel and she worked as a scuba diving instructor.

They originally first split in 2013, when it was revealed Paul had been having an affair with his The American Baking Competition co-judge Marcela Valladolid, but they reunited before calling it quits for good in November 2017.

In August 2019, a month after his divorce being finalised, Paul split from his girlfriend of two years Summer Monteys-Fullam.

It’s been reported that Paul and new girlfriend Melissa are now living together in the countryside home that he originally bought with ex Summer

“Paul and Melissa spent a lot of time together in lockdown. They bubbled up together and stayed at his house,” a source claiming to be pals with the couple told the MailOnline.

“Now she is there for good. They are delightfully happy, though it must be a bit strange given it was bought for Summer.”
