Selling Sunset’s Vanessa Villela was struck down by Covid-19 and was forced to delay her debut in the reality series by five weeks as she suffered a bad case of the virus
Selling Sunset’s Vanessa Villela has told she missed nearly half of the show’s filming for the hit reality series as she was struck down by Covid-19.
The 43-year-old real estate agent tested positive for the the virus back in August just as production was to start on the Netflix Hollywood Hills Series 4.
And due to contracting a ‘strong case’ she was taken out of action for five weeks and is still plagued by symptoms due to suffering brain inflammation.
She told Page Six: “Out of 11 weeks of filming, I was sick for five. I got COVID in August and we started filming right in that moment, so obviously they couldn’t wait for me.”
She continued: ‘I had a very strong COVID case. My case, it’s still going actually.
“It’s called long COVID. I’m still dealing with it.”
Vanessa joined the cast of the hit Netflix reality show along with fellow newcomer Emma Hernan for season four, which premiered on November 24.
And despite since fighting back to fitness the star admits some of her illness symptoms have impacted on her work on the show since her return.
The Mexico City native said: “I was sick for too long and you’re going to see a little bit of struggle with Vanessa in work.”
Vanessa explained to Page Six that her brain inflammation can cause spells of dizziness and recalled one troubling on-set experience.
“I went to film one day after I “recovered” and while I was speaking, I started feeling like I was going to pass out and I started feeling super dizzy,’ she said.
“They had to send me in an Uber to my house.”
On October 17, she shared an Instagram post posed with Dr. Katherine Marie Zagone along with several images in which she was receiving oxygen and other treatments.
She praised her doctor, who is provided by Selling Sunset, and thanked the show for their support during her long road to recovery.
But despite the huge Covid set-back for the star, Vanessa told Ok! that fans can expect to see ‘more drama’ from the upcoming season and hinted that her boyfriend might make an appearance.
Although the release date for season five of Selling Sunset hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans are hoping it will be in early 2022.
